(Styrax benzoin)
Benzoin is a thick resinoid that sould be diluted in a carrier oil before use. It benifits from a warm water bath to help thin the resin before trying to pour as a liquid. After mixed with a carrier oil like sweet almond oil or coconut (Fractionated) it blends in very nicely and thins the resin.
The actions of the oil are anti-inflammatroy, anti-oxident, antiseptic, astrigent, carminative, cordial, deodorant, diuretic, expectorant, sedative, styptic and vulnerary
The anti-oxident and anti-septic action of the oil helps to protect other essential oils from going bad so quickly as most citrus oils are known to do.
Useful for cuts, irritated skin, chapped skin, arthritis, nervous tension and stress
Benzoin has a intense sweet balsamic, light vanilla type scent and blends well with Cardamom, Cypress, Jasmine, Juniper, Frankincense, Lemon, Myrrh, Myrtle, Neroli, Orange, Petitgrain, Sandalwood and most light citrus scents.
