Thyme (White) produces very different oils depending on altitude, climate, and soil condition. This Thyme has a very high percentage of the active ingredient Thymol (45% or greater is considered a superior grade). Thyme essential oil is believed to have antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, stimulating, uplifting, and reviving properties and also works well in message oil blends for minor aches and pains. The active ingredient Thymol may crystallize in temperatures below 68 degree Fahrenheit. The more Thymol present, the greater the possibilities for changing states. We recommend placing the bottle in a warm water bath, and changing the water frequently. Once it is back to its liquid state be sure to shake well before using.
Thyme has a strong herbaceous scent like the herb but much stronger. It blends well with: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lavender, Melissa, Marjoram, Rosemary and Pine.
Cautions: White Thyme oil is a possible skin irritant and can burn the skin if not diluted. So always mix with a carrier oil before use. It is toxic if not properly diluted. It is a powerful oil in the hands of an experienced Aromatherapist.
